Lets begin!

1) Follow Your 24 - 48 Hours After Care

The first 24 - 48 hours are crucial for the adhesive to bond with your natural lashes and lash extensions. The time frame will depend on the type of adhesive that was used for your eyelash application. However, the 24 or 48 hour wait is the most important time that you will need to adhere to these few instructions. First, NO STEAM SHOWERS! You can shower, but you want to be sure to avoid foggy mirrors. Steam showers will create moisture that will sit on your eyelashes and interfere with the adhesive curing as well as any type moisture, such as; tearing, eye drops, rain, water etc. Next, avoid brushing, touching and pulling your eyelash extensions. Again, the adhesive is setting, bonding and has to cure during this period, though they look tempting to touch, you must LEAVE THEM ALONE! Finally, be a sleeping beauty as sleeping on the side of your face may cause your lashes to push in and this will disrupt the adhesive from bonding properly. Make sure to go over with your Lash Stylist your cure time and home care instructions.

Now for your routine lash care...

2) Groom Your Lashes Daily

Your lash stylist should provide you with a few mascara wands after your lash services. Use them! Please do not let them collect lent in the bottom of your purse! They are for you to use besides your stylist thought enough of you to spend a little extra to send you home with a lash tool. Brushing your lashes 1-2 times a day, especially in the morning will keep your eyelash extensions from getting tangled, because our eyelashes are constantly growing out, brushing them will keep them in decency and in order. It is also important to brush and dry your lashes after getting them wet, this will avoid any clumping to your eyelash extensions, as moisture can loosen up the bond and cause clumping. The more your lashes clump, the more likely they are to loosen and fall out. Gently comb through your lashes to avoid brushing them out prematurely. Natural shedding may occur.

3) Use a Foam Lash Cleanser

Cleansing your lashes 1-2 times per week, will avoid debris such as dry skin and eye cold, makeup and oils from building up on the base of the eyelash extension. This is important, not only to keep your lashes healthy, but in good condition. Keeping your lashes clean will reduce buildup and the risk of Blepharitis, a bacterial infection of the eyelid and eyelash follicle. When cleaning your lashes use a lash cleansing brush or a lint free applicator and cleanse from your eyelid down to your lashes. Never use a q-tip, as the lent is not friendly to your eyelash extensions. After cleansing your eyelash extensions, be sure to dry them with a fan or a blow dryer on a low cool setting, in a upward direction, for 30 seconds per eye to avoid moisture from sitting on the adhesive. The best time to cleanse your eyelash extensions is during your nightly routine, whether its in the shower or when cleansing your face before bed. It is always good to check in with your Lash Stylist from time to time about your lash health and your home maintenance and of course if you have any concerns about your natural eyelashes or extensions.

SN: Baby Shampoo is not to be used as a lash cleanser, it is made for the babies bottom not the thin skin on your eyelids. This will for surely dry out your skin.

4) Avoid Oil Based Products

Different types of facial cleansers, moisturizers, eye creams, makeup and even hairspray can be oil based. Oil based products breaks down the lash extension bond, and can weaken the adhesive, causing pre-mature lash loss. It is important to be weary of glycol based ingredients in the products you use around your eyes. Keep in mind that our hands touch many different things throughout the day, such as our hair and our face, so make sure to wash them before touching your lashes. Avoid oily make up; foundation, concealer, eye shadow and pencil eyeliners not created for eyelash extensions. It is best to use eye make up that is formulated for eyelash extensions. If you love wearing make up, you should get recommendations from your Lash Stylist.

5) Sleep Pretty Always

Try not to sleep with your faced smeared into your pillow. The pressure of your eyelash extensions pressing into your pillowcase can cause them to fall out pre-maturely. If you are a side or stomach sleeper, it is best to invest in a silk or satin pillowcase, or a sleeping mask. These will help to keep your eyelash extensions from falling out while sleeping. Make sure to frequently wash your pillowcase, as pillows love to collect natural oils from our skin and hair, which can buildup on our eyelashes while sleeping. Speaking of sleeping, it is a BIG NO NO to sleep with make up on your face, even if its just a bottom eyeliner, you must clean it off. Lashes or no lashes you should never go to sleep with any type of make up.
